Anar Burasheva's Dream: The Kazakh Everest Team is ready to conquer Mount Everest, and we wish them a successful journey.
Kazakhstan is a country of people with determination. It could be because we are a people that, for generations, has grown and thrived through the struggle across the endless terrains of the steppe.
Our tradition as a nomadic people (we retain much of this in the heart of the 21st century, globalization aside) is well-known to those who know us, do business with us, and invest with us.
Kazakhs can scale mountains, cross frozen terrains, and reach far, almost without blinking. In this light, I want to take a few minutes to wish the best to The Kazakh Everest Team, which includes seven members and is led by Major Maksut Zhumayev, a legendary Kazakh climber and member of the Mountain Training Center of the Special Operations Forces at the Kazakh Defense Ministry.
Next Saturday, they will start to embark on conquering the world's highest peak, Mount Everest.
But, maybe even more, I want to wish all the best to Anar Burasheva, who will become the first female Kazakh climber to conquer Everest. Amazing feat.
An experienced sky runner and pacer, Burasheva has conquered peaks that many would only dream of—from Talgar to Mont Blanc and Kilimanjaro. She is also a runner of fundamental importance who has successfully completed the Thian Shan Trail, Tengri Ultra race, and Almaty Marathon, to name a few.
You guys are a symbol of our national pride and strength.
When Burasheva climbs Everest, all the women of our nation will accompany her. She is an example of the importance of having more inclusive national projects. Breaking barriers is a responsibility of all of us, all Kazakh citizens. Together, we can achieve incredible things in the modern world.
The jaunt will pay homage to some of our national heroes — Sagadat Nurmagambetov, Rakhimzhan Koshkarbayev, and Aliya Moldagulova — whose bravery and sacrifice continue to inspire our nation. That moment when our country's flag flies over the summit of Everest will be a moment of success of all of us.
Again, I extend my best wishes to Maksut, Anar, and the entire Kazakh Everest Team. Your courage inspires us all and is a source of pride for our nation.
