Good Times for Venture Capital and Innovation in Kazakhstan

Last week, Almaty hosted the Central Eurasian Venture Forum 2024. As in other occasions, it was a great event for venture capital and innovation in Kazakhstan and for Central Asia as it evolves to become the regional capital of entrepreneurship.

Those of you who have followed my career know that I am a keen supporter and investor of innovative companies. I have done this in the United States, Asia, and Europe, and I have expressed my interest in doing it more and more in my home country.

One of the highlights was attending a meeting with Zhaslan Madiyev, recently appointed Minister of the Ministry of Digital, Innovations, and Aerospace. Next to Askar Bilisbekov, the Managing Partner of our VC fund, we discussed our commitment to backing technology startups in Kazakhstan towards growth and international success.

BYB Capital—which supported this Central Eurasian Venture Forum 2024—focuses on early-stage B2B software enterprise companies. Our sights are set on Central Asia and the Caucasus, with plans for U.S. market expansion. We're headquartered in Almaty, with partner offices in California and New York.

As an investor, I see Kazakhstan - an international, innovative, and open economy - becoming a global leader in innovation. Kazakhstan has a promising future as a pole of attraction for companies and entrepreneurs.
