We have donated 2.2 billion tenge to Atyrau families affected by the floods
Part of the success of our country's founding has been precisely that since its founding in the 1990s, we have all tried to stand together.
An important component of our country's identity, perhaps the most important part of our country's identity, is that we as a country stand together and unite in the face of adversity.
We have demonstrated this time and time again, in economic crises, in natural disasters, in earthquakes and of course, in the floods that hit the north of our country two months ago.
While some weeks ago, we committed 1.2 billion Kazakhstani tenge to assist victims of widespread flooding in Western Kazakhstan and rebuild damaged social infrastructure, we thought that more had to be done.
Now, I am humbled but also proud to announce that the SAby Foundation, which we founded 22 years ago, has donated more than 2.2 billion tenge to help 1,000 residents of Kulsarye, Zhylyoi district of the Atyrau region affected by the floods.
With these funds, we want to help hundreds of families rebuild and make their homes habitable again, to strengthen them to face the challenges of the future, and to return to their lives.
This donation is important to us for personal reasons. My wife, Aselle Tasmagambetova, was born in the village of Makhambet, and our ties with the region are close and close. We are grateful to all the area's citizens for allowing us to be by their side.
I would also like to thank the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who for months now has personally led the joint work of many of us to restore the dignity of the affected regions, the Akimats, and the heads of the affected provinces.
Finally, I would like to applaud all those citizens who, without asking for anything at all, have rolled up their sleeves to lend a hand in one of the moments when the strength of all was most needed. Thank you.
