Working to Position Kazakhstan as a Hub for Venture Capital
As many of you know, I have a strong passion for investing in startups and small-to-medium sized enterprises with high growth potential. Being an active Venture Capital investor for almost two decades (and with great successes and stories behind me) I am now focusing efforts in my home country and will continue to do so.
Kazakhstan is becoming a critical player in the global startup landscape. As an investor, I see my country’s potential in the world economy and I believe that we are at the brink of becoming a much larger player in the international Startup scene.
We see a significant growth in the venture capital market in Central Asia and the Caucasus (total venture transactions exceeded $110 million in 2023). To say more, the venture capital market here is growing fast making Kazakhstan a top performer in the region.
Kazakhstan is facing rising investment volumes and a growing number of successful startups. The funding increased more than five times in the last five years, making our country a regional leader with over $80 million in venture deals in 2023.
Those who know me have seen my input in this sector. It was one of the key factors behind our decision to launch ByB Capital—a venture capital fund, some months ago.
ByB, with headquarters in Almaty and partner offices in New York and California, was created to help fast-growing companies thrive and expand globally. Our goal is to boost innovation and create new opportunities for entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan and beyond.
Today, through our ByB Capital fund, we remain committed to investing and supporting startup companies that can make a positive change in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Our primary mission is to invest in early-stage startups and ventures, and help them expand on a global scale.
Not only Kazakhstan is attracting local but also international investment. With a friendly economy and a focus on technology, our country is ready to attract startups and entrepreneurs from all over, and drive growth in various sectors.
With that in mind, it's no surprise that Kazakhstan’s attractiveness index has been raised from 61 to 52 positions.
I see my country as a hub for new ideas. The future looks bright for us as Kazakhstan grows into an important player in the global market for tech, innovation, and creative businesses that bring solutions.
We are a smart nation, more to say we have a bright new generation. And we believe that having some of the most talented individuals in Kazakhstan is a precious asset that should not be overlooked.
From an investor's viewpoint, it is our mission to help these talents grow, develop, and thrive. With our knowledge, experience, expertise, and global network, we are committed to making our “Qazaq Dream” a reality. Together, we can achieve this vision and create a brighter future for our country.
