Kazakhstan And Global Stability

Kazkhstan is home to one of more unusual populations on the planet, or at least that is what anthropologists and sociologists tell us.

Extending back centuries, many peoples from afar have to come to live in Kazakhstan—however, not migrating to cities, but rather to survive on the land. And this has been going on since the old Silk Road carried goods across the continent, more than 1,000 years ago.

Peaceful coexistence was necessary to survive in lands so abundant, yet unforgiving, in the days before modernization. In addition, in the years during and after WWII, many ethnic populations found their way to Kazakhstan, displaced by war or state diktats.

And so, deep in the Kazakhstani culture there was born a diplomatic spirit that it is better to work together, than fight apart.

And today Kazakhstan, still in the center of Eurasia, uses it vast innate diplomatic know-how to prosper in a multi-polar world—indeed, Kazakhstan is a global crossroads, with Russia to the north, China to the east and Europe to the east. And to the south, emergent India with I.2 billion residents in a booming economy.

Kazakhstan’s foreign polices are “multi-vector." A balancing act we are proud of.

I think it is the essence of Kazakhs to extend the olive branch to all, while keeping one hand on the hilt. We are patient people, here in our landlocked empire, waiting for the world to join us in wise cooperation. That is the best way to survive, the Kazakh way.

In meantime, enterprises from around the world are invited to, and have been coming to Kazakhstan, a land of tolerant and receptive peoples who embrace progress. BTW, the IMF predicts that Kazakhstan’s real gross domestic product (GDP) will grow by 36.8% between 2023 and 2028. Peace pays dividends, growing dividends.

The nation’s abundant natural resources and critical metals, and fossil fuels, can help alleviate global shortages, and perhaps even help prevent resource wars.

Kazakhstan’s prominence on the Eurasian stage is noted by the nation chairing many international organizations and events in 2024, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, the Organization of Turkic States, the Islamic Food Security Organization, and the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.

The world needs peace for prosperity. It may be the so-called “middle powers” such as Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Thailand and others who provide the glue for peaceful coexistence in the years ahead. We are nations largely without agendas, or global designs, who wish for greater commerce and progress.

Look for Kazakhstan showing more on the world stage soon. We have the resources the globe needs, and we have the diplomatic skills to help bring solutions, not aggravations, to international frictions.
