Recently, My Vision for Kazakhstan, its Relations with China, and the Future of Resources was featured in The New York Times

Many of you saw it when it came out, but now that the year is about to end, I've wanted to write about what has been one of the most critical media achievement of my career.

A few months ago, The New York Times, one of the world's top media organizations, devoted extensive coverage to exploring Kazakhstan's role as a strategic leader in the world of critical minerals within the electric vehicles (EV) economy.

It covered its position the nation's position a bridge between China and the West and its bright prospects for the future as a major player in a market that will need brutal amounts of nickel and cobalt to fuel the EV revolution.

It did so through a 2,000-word profile of me and my work, as well as that of some relevant colleagues in the country. The article was written by Daisuke Wakabayashi, an excellent and insightful journalist known for its many years of work in the tech industry in San Francisco.

It was majestically illustrated by the videos and photographs of Pulitzer Prize winner Chang W. Lee, one of the finest photojournalists of his generation.

The piece, titled "Why China Is So Interested in Kazakhstan", became an exceptional three-page article that was published in the U.S. edition, topped the front page of the international edition, ran in Spanish and Chinese versions, and was reprinted by some of the world's leading newspapers, from Latin America to Singapore.

This is, without a doubt, some of the most comprehensive coverage of Kazakhstan by the international press in years, and I am proud to have been at the center of this narrative.

I loved this description of my work: "Mr. Rakishev, 44, is always chasing the next big investment. In February, he drove the public offering of a Canadian maker of plant-based instant noodles on the Nasdaq stock exchange; prior to that, he focused on blockchain technology, and before that, he was involved with an Israeli photo-sharing app called Mobli that aimed to become the next Instagram."

For me, for Aselle Tasmagambetova, for the Fincraft team, for Shoqan, for Kaznickel, for Telli, it was a privilege a few months ago to host and listen to Dai and Chang, who spent almost a week in the country, top to bottom, doing great reporting.

There is a point to emphasize here. The fact that the international media outlets are starting to talk more and more about Kazakhstan validates our own vision for ourselves. We are a country to watch, a country to invest in, a country to invest with, a country that is bound to become a serious and valuable regional partner.

As many of you have heard me say, "Kazakhstan is the gateway linking the Far East to the Old Continent, the bridge that everyone must cross."

I invite you to read and share the article. It can be accessed in English here:
