Kazakhstan Sees Rise in Employed Youth, Reaching 3.6 Million
Recent years have been very promising for the newer generation of Kazakhs. I'm thrilled to see the rise in youth employment, which now reaches 3.6 million young people entering the workforce.
Many young Kazakhs study globally in the universities of Europe, the United States, and the Middle East and come back with fresh ideas, new drive, and a clear will to support the nation's development.
And our workforce is a young as ever. And that really makes me confident about the future of the nation.
As Central Asia's top economy, Kazakhstan is creating real opportunities for young people to enter the workforce. We are setting up a solid foundation for sustainable growth through investments in education, skills training, and job programs. We are proud to contribute to that end with the Saby Foundation's programs and through our very own Shoqan School in Almaty, one of its leading education institutions.
In my country, youth unemployment has dropped to 3.2%, down from 3.6% in the same period last year. By the end of 2023, most employed young people (50.4%) were in the 29-34 age range.
There's an impressive focus on preparing youth for careers in digital, green, and tech-driven industries. This country isn't just about traditional sectors—it's creating pathways for young people to shape Kazakhstan's future in innovative fields.
What I find particularly inspiring is the emphasis on green jobs and the tech sector, which gives youth a chance to work in roles that protect the environment and foster innovation.
We are a country of young businesspeople, diplomats, and expert entrepreneurs—fresh blood to make us proud at home and internationally. By continuing to focus on the development of young people, we are thinking long-term and securing our place in the international markets.
Soon, other larger markets will invest in us. We continue to support that growth path.
